Barcelona, Spain – Tarranix, a groundbreaking deep-tech startup, made a powerful debut at the 8è Fòrum d’Inversió CAT SUD, an esteemed investment forum fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Catalonia. The event, held in Tarragona, serves as a vital platform for connecting visionary startups with strategic investors, driving the region’s technology landscape forward.
Tarranix is pioneering a revolutionary approach to computing through its photonic chip technology, which utilizes tridimensional optical transistors to achieve unprecedented processing speeds and energy efficiency. Unlike traditional semiconductor-based chips, which rely on binary (0 and 1) logic, Tarranix's photonic system can process six logical states using the polarization of light. This innovation marks a paradigm shift in computational power, surpassing the limitations of current electronic chips.
At the forum, Tarranix showcased its proprietary photonic processor, designed to revolutionize artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing, and telecommunications. By reducing energy consumption by up to 95% compared to traditional semiconductor chips, the Tarranix photonic chip presents a sustainable and scalable alternative that aligns with the European Union’s vision for green and sovereign technology development.
Organized annually, the Fòrum d’Inversió CAT SUD plays a crucial role in fostering the regional startup ecosystem, bringing together entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and corporate investors. The forum is a key part of Catalonia’s industrial innovation strategy, designed to accelerate technology transfer and attract capital to high-potential projects.
This year’s edition was particularly relevant as the Catalan government continues to push for digital transformation and technological sovereignty. Tarranix’s aligns perfectly with these objectives, positioning the startup as a strategic player in the region’s next-generation technology sector.
Following its successful showcase at the forum, Tarranix is now preparing for the next phase of development, focusing on fabrication scalability and commercial partnerships. With a roadmap that includes industrial prototyping and pilot production, the company is actively seeking strategic investors and manufacturing partners to bring its photonic chip to market.
In parallel, Tarranix is engaged in discussions with European research institutions and semiconductor consortia to further develop its technology and secure intellectual property protections.
The 8è Fòrum d’Inversió CAT SUD has cemented Tarranix’s reputation as a pioneering force in deep-tech innovation. As Europe races to lead the next wave of semiconductor evolution, photonic computing could be the key to unlocking unprecedented processing power while dramatically reducing energy consumption.
With strong investor interest and an ambitious roadmap, Tarranix is aimed to become a cornerstone of Europe’s technological future, offering a sustainable, efficient, and scalable computing solution for industries worldwide.
